IT ALL STARTS WITH A GOOD FIT
Take your time and get a good measurement. There are a couple of things to take into consideration. Please watch the entire video above, it's less than 5 minutes long and has some insight on getting a good measurement.
Don't hesitate to email me any questions you may have about measuring, leather colors, thread colors, construction, etc.
If your old belt is 1 inch wide and thin, or has a lot of stretch to it, take that into consideration when measuring. Redmeadow belts are lined and stitched, they'll stretch little to none. They're made to sit comfortably on your hips, not squeeze you like a bungee cord.
A cloth tape will work well, thread it through your belt loops to get your measurement. Relax your body and don't pull it tight.
When it comes to measuring your old belt while it's laid out flat, imagine hanging your belt on a hook by the buckle. The point of contact where the buckle would touch the hook is where the measurement begins.
Most of us want to drop a few pounds but don't adjust your measurement based on where you'd like to be. I use 9 holes (7 for smaller belts) spaced 3/4" apart. For reference I travelled three holes on my belt over 25lbs of weight loss, there's plenty of adjustment for normal weight fluctuation.
Note that your measurement will be nowhere near your pants size. It may be much longer. For reference, I'm personally a size 34 or 36 depending on the brand of pants but my belt measurement is 39 1/2".
Take the measurement to at least the nearest 1/4". The more accurate the better.
When measuring, repeat it a few times until you start getting the same number. It can be awkward if you're measuring a belt that turned into a piece of leather spaghetti. It helps to measure at least twice because I can only cut once.
If you're using a Plate/Trophy type buckle let me know, I'll need to know if you're planning on using that buckle and may need a different measurement.
I know that seems like a lot to read just to order a belt but if you take the time to measure I'll make you a belt that you'll enjoy and one that will outlive your waistline.
