Where did the name Redmeadow come from?
With a name like John Conner, I’ve heard every Terminator joke ever made.
I wanted something that represented my family. Our kids names translate to “Red” and “Meadow”, it’s as simple as that.

Is Redmeadow family owned?
Redmeadow is family owned and operated and we make an effort to keep all work done "in house". Redmeadow is comprised of myself, my wife, and our two children. Each of us play a role in the process.

How long have you been making knives?
After about a year of research, I made my first knife. From the moment I put file to steel I was instantly hooked and have since put a lot of effort into learning the skills, acquiring the necessary tools and have enjoyed every bit of the process.

How do I stay up to date on what’s going on at Redmeadow?
Sign up for our Newsletter, I send one out when there is important information like Giveaways, available knives and updates. You won’t be plagued with nonsense filling your inbox, I can’t stand that either.

Will your Newsletter waste my time?
Doubtful, however if you don’t find value in it, respond with Unsubscribe or something of the like and I’ll take you off the list, no hard feelings and you’re welcome to rejoin at any time.

What are these “Dibs” that I’ve heard so much about?
Dibs apply mostly to the Cowbell knives. In the Newsletter, I’ll announce the number of builds I am about to start and will take Dibs from the replies. From there I'll contact you with your choice of four blade styles, different sheath options and handle material options. It’s basically a slot for a custom Cowbell.

Do you take full Custom orders?
I take Custom orders on an extremely limited basis, though I do hope for that to change at some point.

What materials do you like to use?
The short answer is quality ones. I prefer to use stabilized woods, Micarta, and G10, as well as Nickel Silver, Bronze, and Copper. I tend to stay away from materials that aren’t durable like certain acrylics.
How should I care for my knife?
This is a simple matter of keeping it clean and dry. a light coat of mineral oil every once in a while can help. A humid climate will require more attention than a dry climate like here in Montana. I personally never oil my carry blade (52100 Carbon Steel) and I have never had an issue.
Your mileage may vary, especially in humid environments.
How should I store my knife?
This can get overthought often. Preferably the knife shouldn’t be stored in a leather sheath if it’s meant to sit long term and should be covered with a light coat of oil or wax.
I’ve never had a stacked leather handle,
when will I find out how incredible they are?
The moment you hold one that’s done well. Stacked leather is the most comfortable handle material I have ever used and is extremely durable when done right. It stays warm in hand and has an excellent feel and grip. I take a lot of pride in the quality of Redmeadow’s stacked leather.
